Finally my 2nd model is here. Also it's my first non humanoid character (or creature should I say?).
This one was quite the challenge, specially the re-topology part where I tried to lower it as much as possible, now that I have finished I have a few conclusions:
- Don't make a tail with 14 parts, just merge them in a few parts and work on top of that.
- Finally I know what the heck are UDIMS and how to create materials for Unreal5 with them. This part was specially tortuous since I had no clue they were treated different from regular 1 space Uvs.
- You can way lower in tris and keep the form, you just have to figure the way (and there is always a way ;))
- I'm absolutely terrible at rigging this is why my poor shark cavern dragon is in T-pose, luckily I don't want to follow that career path ;,D
Last but not least: credits to Hardy Fowler (https://www.artstation.com/hfowler) for inspiring this 3d model. I hope I didn't butcher it too much in you eyes!
